When in Tuguegarao

I haven’t visited my website for almost a month and I feel so guilty. Don’t get me wrong I still dine out a lot and still take photos and make reviews but I haven’t posted for the longest time. I’ll try to make this a habit and add more “blogging/reviewing” in my To-Do list starting today.

To start off, I went home to the province (Tuguegarao City, Cagayan) I brought David with me so he could see where and how I was raised. It was eventful and truly memorable since it’s his first time to visit and actually see my family as a whole. I’ll be sharing some of the restaurants we’ve tried there. Hope you make Tuguegarao City a tourism spot in the country because of these delicious food we have!

Lorie’s Restaurant (Hotel Lorita)

Birds Nest Soup with Quail Eggs - When I was growing up this was the BEST soup for me and up till now it is still the best. No one can beat the taste of Lorita’s Birds nest!

Mango Crepe with Caramel - Yummy! First time to try crepe with caramel and it was surprisingly good!

Cafe Racquel

2 scoops of vanilla goodness - It was good considering the price. I never did like vanilla but David would always push me to try different flavors so I can compare but still nothing changed — I still don’t like vanilla.

Mango Crepe - It was only 50php! And it was good even if the crepe itself was a bit hard to chew. I loved that they made use of dark chocolate for the syrup and not the traditional milk chocolate.

Jomar’s Panciteria

Special Pancit - It was huge! I knew from the beiginning that I wont be able to finish it and yes I was right! David and I were so into eating the pancit that we didn’t talk for over 20 minutes and when we finally did we were too full to actually talk about anything else but how delicious the pancit was.

NEVER ever forget to ask for “sabaw” trust me it won’t be the same without this.

MexiTalian Grande

I didn’t even know we had a Mexican/Italian restaurant in Tuguegarao! I’ve been gone for so long that I don’t even know what places to go to anymore.

Milk Tea - Exciting! We have milk tea in Tugs!!! Sad to say the pearls were over cooked but all in all 70php was a good price for this.

Buffalo Starter - Typical buffalo wing but the good part is it was cheap. Finally found a place to hangout to when I’m in the province.

Beef Burrito - First and foremost, I apologize for the photo. I know photography is not something I’m good at and my iPhone sucked big time. Please do not be fooled this dish was huge I even asked David to have the 2nd half to-go coz I could finish it anymore.

Celia’s Restaurant (Oldest Halo-Halo in Tuguegarao)

I grew up in this place and why am I only hearing about this now? I have no answer because I missed a lot by not knowing.

Special Halo-Halo - Better than Chowking x Razon’s and it only cost 50php! I want more!!!

Will post about the restaurants individually in the next few days but for now, please DROOL.

I’m really ashamed at the fact that I couldn’t update more. I cannot promise I will but this I assure you, if I have new finds in a certain place I would definitely tell you.

Yakimix in Mall of Asia

My sister was here for the whole weekend and she wanted to try Yakimix. Wasn’t sure if she’ll love it since she’s more of a rice person but when we arrived she immidiately got 3 plates and filled them with Maki and main dishes. I love her but I know she didn’t know what she was doing and she was overwhelmed! So cute so I told her she can go back anytime she wanted because it was a buffet.

What I noticed with the LUNCH buffet was that the food was far different than the DINNER one. The grilled items were limited and they didn’t refill the Korean beef that often. Also the Japanese side was barely refilled that often, it was practically empty when I went back the third time. The servers were not attentive and they  were there to look good in front of everyone not to assist us for sure, one server even answered me with “Hindi ko po alam” when I asked when they will refill the tempura rack. It’s just unprofessional of them. I went to the counter at the back to ask for the manager because the food I wanted to eat wasn’t available anymore but he/she was no where to be found. I hated the fact that no one was there to actually assist me or my sister, even the kids in line for the desert table were left to guess what spoon, plate, or saucer to get for the cakes or ice cream.

All in all I think the employees of Yakimix should go back to training again. The treatment and behavior was not what we paid for and it certianly is something we, the customers are looking for in a restaurant.

Overall rating 6 / 10.

Price Range: 599 per head

Will I eat here again? In MOA? NO.

Will I recommend this to my friends? No.

Jeonju

I owe everyone a month’s worth of reviews and I’m starting to update again. Thank God I am not as busy as I was the past month. Let’s start my “Reincarnation” with a newly opened restaurant in Malate Manila named Jeonju.

Jeonju - Along Nakpil St. Cor. Adriatico Malate Manila

We were one of the first customers to try Jeonju. And I promised the owner that I’ll make a review on them here in my site.

Don’t know what the Korean letters mean, translate it for me?

Very traditional, but I hate having to squat to eat so we decided to go on the different side.

Maybe it’s just me but the side dishes are really yummy and spicy! It they gave us around 9 side dishes all in all and these are the ones I loved the most.

Sam Gyup Sal - The servers were really nice and helpful.

280php for the pork ribs really loving the set up they have.

Grade A beef - Sorry I forgot what they call it, it’s not Galbi so I really didn’t mind. It was good not juicy but it was worth your money.

Bacon like beef - So good! It’s better to ask for soy sauce for this because it’s a bit dry and the soy sauce would be a good addition to this.

I forgot to tell you that it was out 1 year and 2 months Anniversary when we tried Jeonju. It was a fine dining Korean restaurant that’s hard to find in Malate since most of the Korean restaurants there are catering more on the “inuman” side of Malate.

Overall rating 8 / 10.

Price Range: 150 - 450~

Will I eat here again? Yes.

Will I recommend this to my friends? Yes.

Want to try Jeonju?  Visit them along Nakpil St. cor. Adriatico St. in Malate    For location, contact details and reservation.

Moonleaf

Last year the milk tea craze started to invade the Philippines and soon after local business owners started to branch out shops that cater to this craze and I was eager to try them all.

Moonleaf is one of the popular milk tea shops in the metro.

This visit was actually not planned as David wanted to try Happy Lemon but there wasn’t a branch near us.

The menu.

The place is actually like a cafe, they cater to students most of the time.

I got Winter-melon Milk Tea because it was the bestseller. 8/10 for me I still love what Gong Cha has.

Enjoying my visit. I used to love drinking milk tea but the whole idea of it just dawned to me and I decided to make my own milk tea at home instead. Less expensive and more natuaral.

Overall rating 8 / 10.

Price Range: 70 - 150~

Will I eat here again? Yes!

Will I recommend this to my friends? Yes.
